Myriant was specially selected by the AlwaysOn editorial team and industry experts spanning the globe based on a set of five criteria: innovation, market potential, commercialization, stakeholder value, and media buzz.

"Myriant is honored to receive this recognition as one of GoingGreen's Top 50 emerging green technology companies," said Myriant Chairman & CEO Stephen J. Gatto. "Myriant is proud of its leadership role in industrial biotechnology and its obvious environmental and energy independence benefits. Moreover, this industry's domestic technology base combined with United States' vast agricultural resources truly has the potential to re-energize and drive the American economy with its unparalleled job growth capacity."

With its proven D(-) Lactic Acid already in commercial production, Myriant will start manufacturing and selling its next product, succinic acid, a "building block" in the production of fibers, urethanes, paints, and pharmaceuticals in 2011.

"The GoingGreen East Top 50 winners have excelled in key strategic areas in the global clean energy technology markets," said Tony Perkins, founder and CEO of AlwaysOn. "We congratulate them for their success in introducing new tools, services, and systems that are driving the next phase of greentech innovation and transforming the biggest industries on earth."
