Mr. Ferguson is the former CEO and Chairman of Eastman Chemical Company, a global chemical company engaged in the manufacture and sale of a broad portfolio of chemicals, plastics, and fibers. He served as CEO and Chairman of Eastman from January 2002 through June 2008, and as Executive Chairman of the Board from June 2008 through December 2010. Prior to his roles as CEO/Chairman, Ferguson was President of Eastman's Chemicals Group where he had direct responsibility for all chemicals-based business organizations, as well as the manufacturing, sales, pricing and product management, technology, and geographical aspects of the business group. Mr. Ferguson has served as a director of Nextera Energy, Inc. (formerly FPL Group) since 2005. He was Chairman of the American Chemistry Council in 2010, and was a member of the Business Roundtable and the board of the National Association of Manufacturers prior to his retirement from Eastman.
Mr.Ferguson has a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Arizona State University.
After a distinguished career of public service, culminating in his appointment to President Ronald Reagan's cabinet as his National Security Advisor, Mr. McFarlane founded his own energy development company, Global Energy Investors LLC, sponsoring major international power projects in Brazil, Pakistan, the Philippines, and China. He has also served as a consultant to foreign governments on energy, infrastructure, and privatization policies. Mr. McFarlane has been affiliated with the company since its inception. Apart from his business activities, Mr. McFarlane remains a respected figure in international affairs. He is frequently called upon to advise the U.S. and other governments, the U.S. Congress and the news media. Prior to his career in the public sector, Mr. McFarlane saw extensive combat as a Marine Corps officer after graduation from the U.S. Naval Academy. Later he was chosen as an Olmsted Scholar and was awarded a Master's degree in Strategic Studies from the Institut de Hautes Études Internationales in Switzerland.
Dr. Praetorius, whose career spanned 29 years at BASF, is the former global executive at BASF SE, the world's leading chemicals company. He currently serves as a non-executive member of the Board of Directors of Swiss-based EMS-Chemie Holding AG. His tenure at BASF includes various executive level positions including serving as President Global Engineering Plastics Division, President Global Styrenics Division, and President Global Petrochemicals Division. Dr. Praetorius also held several director posts while representing BASF including serving as Vice Chairman of Yangzi BASF Styrenics Co. and board member of BASF Yangzi Co (China), Board Chairman for BASF Fina LP (US), and Board Chairman of BASF Styrenics Co (South Korea).
Dr. Praetorius holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Technical College Darmstadt. He also holds a Master's degree in Science and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Technical University Darmstadt. As a key industry opinion leader, Dr. Praetorius is actively involved in global industry affairs including having served as President of the Association of Plastics Manufacturers in Europe (APME) and member of the Boards of the Association of Petrochemical Producers Europe (APPE), Cefic (European Chemical Industry Council) and the European Petrochemical Association (EPCA).
