Director of Marketing and Products, Sales & Marketing Division

Summary

As part of the Sales & Marketing team, this position will play a leading role in developing and executing on Myriant's strategy to bring bio-based chemicals into the market. The position is responsible for all marketing, product management and application development activities related to Myriant's bio-based Succinic Acid and Butanediol business. The successful candidate will lead the company's marketing activities of bio-based chemicals globally in key markets and applications. The position will interact closely with the regional sales teams in establishing and executing on the over-all sales and marketing strategy, and have high visibility both internally and externally. Myriant is seeking a candidate with the ability to grow significantly in the role and with the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Marketing

  • Provide stewardship for Myriant's product value propositions in the market place.
  • Develop and implement global marketing strategy.
  • Position bio-based Succinic Acid and Butanediol in the market to achieve highest possible return for the company.
  • Track the development of the customer pipeline in target applications.
  • Interact closely with the regional sales team.

Product Management

  • Develop and implement over-all product management strategy.
  • Roll out of product management tools (CRM, ERP).
  • Tracking of product cost, revenue and margin.
  • Manage the interaction with Operations regarding volume forecasting, product quality and supply chain activities relating to the company's production facilities.
  • Own the full product value chain.

Technical Support and Application Development

  • Manage the company's application development program, in conjunction with outside labs, in testing bio-based products in various new applications to develop benchmark performance data.
  • Together with Legal, apply for patents for the use of bio-based products in new applications.
  • Manage the technical support to the sales organization and customers.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum of M.S. in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering. MBA is a plus.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience working in a management position for a commercial chemical organization.
  • Solid commercial and business development experience in a business to business environment.
  • Strong experience with the implementation of growth, new business development and marketing initiatives that lead to stronger market penetration.
  • Proven ability to successfully direct business opportunities, including market assessment, strategic planning, objective setting and implementation.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate and manage career growth for direct reports.
