Summary

Myriant Corporation is looking for a creative and strategically-minded individual to pioneer and launch the Company's social media presence and effectively manage and integrate this with its corporate communications initiatives. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications and Government Affairs, the candidate must have demonstrated experience growing and nurturing corporate and product brands and demonstrated social media expertise.

The candidate must be able to manage traditional communications programs and develop social marketing strategies leveraging different social platforms, devising ways to build participation and utilize new innovations in social marketing. The ideal candidate must have a deep understanding of integrating traditional public relations with building digital media campaigns in social platforms and must be experienced in leveraging Twitter, Blogs, Facebook, YouTube and other technologies as a part of a digital marketing mix. This position will work closely with marketing, human resources, operations and other departments, as well as external agencies on strategy, execution and analytics for traditional and social initiatives, ensuring campaigns are on strategy, on budget, and effectively executed.

This position communicates cross-functionally to coordinate the many processes necessary to develop, implement, execute and manage an effective integrated communications strategy. It involves creative thinking, strategic planning, positioning and message development, program execution, project management, and cross functional collaboration skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, manage and analyze new and alternative social media strategies using social media techniques and practices, and make recommendations for optimum visibility and traffic across the Myriant corporate brand and products.
  • Responsible for day-to-day management of content across external digital properties, including Myriant corporate website and social media platforms.
  • Manage PR agency and traditional communications channels (media, speaking engagements, awards).
  • Work closely with Legal to ensure standard social media guidelines, promoting compliance and efficient use of social media technologies and practices across the company.
  • Manage the primary voice of the company in the external environment by posts, status updates and other content pushing.
  • Implement acquisition and retention strategies to maintain and grow social communities.
  • Implement social media measurement tools/programs; track and analyze the chatter, engagement, tonality, and measure against both business and brand objectives.
  • Recommend and communicate to other departments future programs gleaned from learnings in the Social Media space.

Requirements

Work Experience:

  • Candidates with 10-12 years of relevant communications and digital media experience.
  • Must have experience developing online campaigns and building corporate brands.

Management of Staff:

  • Experience working with public relations agencies, digital media agencies, and within a corporate communications organization is a plus.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams with members from all levels of the organization with multiple projects running simultaneously.

Functional/Technical Knowledge & Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of social media platforms and their respective participants (Blogs, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Flickr, etc.) and how they can be deployed in different scenarios.
  • Proven ability to use content management systems, databases, and other technologies to develop and maintain communication vehicles, such as websites, intranets, social media platforms, etc.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Power Point and integration of video into different channels.

Education/Training:

  • Bachelor's degree required.

  • Analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines with effective execution and coordination across the multiple teams.
  • Propensity to think both creatively and analytically and the discretion on when to use each.
  • High degree of adaptability and flexibility to work approach; well-organized and capable of multitasking.
  • Technically savvy - confident investigating technical issues to a sufficient level.
  • Ability to demonstrate accountability for results and show sound business judgment/decision-making ability.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving ability.
  • Agency experience is a plus.
